OIL PAINTINGS ON CANVAS

Collection 2023

I painted this collection at a turning point in my life that started a period of discovery and introspection.

At first, I didn’t think this internal process was reflected in my work. However, upon reflection, I realised that it was. The paintings I created revealed the inner struggles I went through at different times in my life.

Daisy Lady

Oil on canvas, 120×170

Own Your Red

Oil on canvas, 120x170cm

After a while, You find your style

Your colours true, it’s really You

With every hour, You gain power

And it helps repel, what mean folks yell

Thouhg their scorn, makes You feel torn

What You wear, is not their care

You are steadfast, ignore them at last

Wear high your head, and Own Your Red!

Narcissus

Oil on canvas, 120x170cm

Nobody likes a narcissist, they are shallow, they are vein

Satisfying their own needs first, they deserve none but disdain

No empathy, no compromise, they don’t care enough to try

They take only for themselves, sucking all other people dry

If they’ve never learned to give, maybe you should learn to take

Never receiving what you want, puts your generosity at stake

In truth why not be narcissists, and take a little without shame

For taking is not bad nor evil, if you balance out the game.

Pink Velvet

Oil on canvas, 120x170cm

We make ourselves a gift, one for others to enjoy

But this present that we give, it comes with a cruel ploy

When people see you draped, in that velvet and allure

They come to like the pink, the charade must now endure

At first you see the good, in your beautiful disguise

You relish the sweet belonging, the happiness in their eyes

But deception’s full-time work, it’s hard to see it through

Rather than investing in velvet, it pays off to invest in you.

The Shadow in the Spotlight

Oil on canvas, 120x170cm

When you see me in the spotlight, I am always part of We

A helping hand at the edge, the shadow to another’s glee

I tell myself it gives life meaning, and claim that it’s just nicety

Though the jealous void inside, points to codependency

For chained to the ones I follow, I’m reliant and not free

The edge of the spotlight is my prison, and I let others hold the key

Unless I find the courage, to make the spotlight shine for me

I am destined to be a shadow, of the person I could be.

The Odd One Out

Oil on canvas, 120x170cm

Every day from dusk till dawn, I struggle and squirm

Feeling like another’s pawn, uncomfortable within my mind

Confined within the social mould, I can’t seem to choose my way

Entangled in its iron hold, I can’t move and I can’t breathe

So why try what doesn’t work, there’s no reason to endure

Being different than the mould, has rich beauty and allure

Let’s embrace our oddities, celebrate their wide array

There is freedom in our strange, it is beautiful to stray.

Nice

Oil on canvas, 120x170cm

Burdened, collared and blindfolded, that is how you go through life

Pretty, elegant and nice, can’t cause anybody strife

And because it’s all you know, you can’t even see it’s there

It is not a conscious choice, conditioning is everywhere

By conforming you belong, nice is normal, normal’s nice

Though it drains your life of colour, it’s a virtue, not a vice

You have learned to love the grey, you can’t see the enemy

You embrace what feels familiar, and have no desire to fle…

Freedom

Oil on canvas, 120x170cm

There is a change, so profound, you feel it vibrate in the air around

It comes from deep inside of you, you glow with light, the glow is true

There’s a drumroll, that’s also new, it accompanies your dazzling hew

The drumroll is a thundering roar, that makes your spirit light to soar

It’s your heart that beats this song, walk it’s rhythm, you’ll not go wrong

If you continue this courageous pace, you’ll brave all obstacles that you face

Enjoy your speed and its wild cares, always aim high, don’t settle for less

Hang on tight to this power of yours, never let others blow you off course.

OIL PAINTINGS ON CANVAS BOARD

Collection 2022

Inspired by fashion shows, models and the unconventional way they are dressed, I made a series of digital illustrations and transferred these onto canvas. Elegance, extravagance, the way bodies move and above all the emotions behind the faces… I am fascinated by how all these things can be expressed in drawings and paintings.
