INVISIBLE TIES

collection 2024/2025

Invisible Ties approaches fashion as both language and constraint. Rooted in a couture-inspired visual vocabulary, the collection reflects on the unseen structures that shape women’s lives—expectations, internalised roles, and quiet forms of pressure that persist beneath the surface.

The works unfold in pairs. Each figure appears twice: once as a large, unresolved body in motion, and once as a smaller, finished portrait. The contrast exposes a tension between inner experience and outward appearance, between what is lived and what is presented. Garments become architecture, silhouette becomes burden, and presence is negotiated rather than assumed.

These are not portraits of individuals, but of positions. Figures stand, pause, resist, repeat. They occupy space while being held back by forces that remain largely invisible. The collection does not seek resolution. Instead, it lingers in the moment before release—where awareness begins, and transformation becomes possible.

Painting of a female figure constrained by subtle visual elements, from Invisible Ties series.

Invisible Ties is a body of work about what shapes us quietly. The forces we learn to wear. The roles we slip into. The control that feels like choice. These ties are not dramatic. They are elegant. Functional. Familiar. They live in posture, in restraint, in repetition. In what is revealed—and what remains carefully hidden.

This series explores the body as a site of authorship, where identity is constructed through exposure, adornment, and emotional risk. Each figure occupies a threshold between concealment and revelation, using dress not as decoration but as language—an assertion of presence, power, and choice

Together, the works propose identity as something worn, shaped, and claimed—fluid yet deliberate. The figures do not ask to be seen; they arrive already defined, holding vulnerability, power, and sincerity in equal measure.

What began as structure moves toward sensation. What was once held becomes something felt. Invisible Ties traces the slow work of becoming. How a body is shaped by what it is given and how it slowly learns to choose what remains. It does not resolve its tensions, it lets them soften, stretch, and re-form.

Between discipline and desire, between exposure and restraint, a different kind of presence takes shape. Not louder. Not freer. But more her own.
